Alice by Heart, directed by David Mendez, is a musical by Steven Sater (book/lyrics) and Jessie Nelson (book/direction), with music by Duncan Sheik, inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Set during the London Blitz, it follows a young girl, Alice, and her friend Alfred as they escape into Wonderland to cope with grief, loss, and first love, exploring themes of imagination, trauma, and hope. The show is known for its poignant storytelling, indie-rock score, and mature themes, making it suitable for older audiences (PG-13).
