Unexpected Moments uses personal narratives from the year 2020, enhanced by choral reading. This is a recording of the live outdoor performance Sunday, June 27, 2021. Expect joy, grief, laughter and poignancy as you hear of the many ways people maneuvered and thrived through the pandemic.
New Minowa Players asked local writers to submit narratives about something they experienced in the year 2020. There are stories of remodeling and of walking, of birth and of death. There are voices of parents, and of teachers, and of students. Toilet paper appears, as do baking soda and vinegar and black cats.
Enjoy the natural outdoor setting as the daylight fades away on the hill behind the performance. All of it is captured in this video filmed and produced in partnership with Northeast Iowa R C & D.
New Minowa Players is an active community theatre, producing six shows per year. Our 2021-2022 season will include Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night staged and performed by our young people, junior high through college age. Performances are August 5-8. October brings performances by our youngest actors, kindergarten through eighth grade, performing a locally written adaptation of Kenneth Graham’s book The Wind in the Willows. The first weekend in November brings The Rocky Horror Show, Matilda will be performed in January, our spring show will be The Crucible, and the season will close out with Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
