Musical Theatre Cabaret - More Info
New Minowa Players is celebrating 35 years of bringing live theatre to the area. The Decorah-based community theatre organization began presenting shows in 1975, and has performed more than 100 straight plays, musicals, reviews, and melodramas in a variety of locations. A number of past productions were held at the Decorah Elks Lodge, located at 402 West Main St., and the group is returning to that venue on November 6th and 7th at 7:30 pm to offer “A Musical Theatre Cabaret, with a Salute to NMP’s 35 Years”. The show will feature Broadway songs and a tribute to the NMP “Founding Mothers” who have retained their membership in the community theatre organization throughout its 35 year history: Donalee Burns, Bette Greedy, and Helen Grant Schmidt. Admission is by donation at the door the night of the show, with a suggested minimum of $10. The fundraiser is designed to help New Minowa Players keep ticket prices affordable for all members of the community, and proceeds will go toward the Family Production of “The Wind in the Willows”, to be presented January 22nd - 24th in the New Minowa Players Theatre at 906 S. Mill St.
Cash bar is available at the Elks club, so come early to enjoy. Doors to the performance hall open at 7:00 pm. As part of the evening, NMP will hold its 2nd annual “Give Community Theatre a Chance” fund raiser, offering tickets for a chance to win prizes donated by members. Plan now to come out and support community theatre and enjoy a fun filled night of Broadway show tunes.
